Stages 7
Fruit preserves with a sour and spicy flavor. Unripened citromes can be extremely sour, but cut them to pieces (along with the rind) and marinate them in a blend of tartpeppers and aggagrit condiments. The result is a refreshing riot of sour and spicy.
Sour, spicy, and rich with the unique aroma of energized aggagrit. It's the same aroma that enticed me to try Superhot Fruit Preserves for the first time. One bite of the "bipolar sour-n-spicy" gave me the most extreme and unforgettable gastronomic experience. I gave Bugor a serving of the Superhot Fruit Preserves. The dude can really plow through this stuff. The other two crew mates got the rest. They became deeply emotional regarding the initial heat followed by the refreshing and mouth-watering aftertaste.
An extremely hard and salty tack. After the decision to construct the Hub Base was made, the first Endfield operators arriving at Valley IV considered the possibility of supply shortage. Hence, they specifically added these emergency rations known for their extremely long shelf lives to the supply list.
It was mealtime when I arrived at the crew lounge. Vannikov saw me serving the Hub Emergency Rations. He did not see them coming and immediately pounced on them. Coarse yet wholesome grains of reed rye had been transformed into warm and passionate hues. Some commented on the dash of sweetness offered by buckflowers. Others were astonished at how the unassuming loaf kept tasting better and better with every chew. What had been expected as mere rations turned out to be a genuinely pleasant surprise for the entire crew.
Meat cubes quickly stir-fried over powerful heat. A plate of Meat Stir-Fry goes with three full bowls of rice. This is the hottest dish in the frontiers. Make no mistake about this.
Simple dishes will put a chef's skills to the test. I got a serving of Meat Stir-Fry for Polya and Neumann as they were on duty. After trying some, Polya came running over and said: "Uncle Roman, the spiciness is simply exciting!" I summarized their reviews: Aroma is rich, the meat is perfectly marbled and seared, and the tartpepper gave just enough heat to enrich the dish without dominating everything else. It was a perfect equilibrium of savoriness and garden spice.
A meat pie. Everyone in Valley IV grew up eating the famous Valley pie. Steaming pies, the stove, and a loving family always bring people hope.
Crispy-baked reed rye bread with juicy meat fillings. Take a single bite and you'd think there's a rich field of rye growing in your tummy. Endmin, when I served this to Shargin and Corey, they behaved just like me. None of them expected they'd ever get the chance to bite into a crispy, juicy, meat-filled pie that burst with flavor at the first bite. They at once knew that I had secured the assistance of a mighty legend.
Bread with a hardness akin to D64 Steel. The origins can be traced back to the time before the Landbreakers splintered into separate clans. According to the Landbreakers, the legendary warlord Jakub always had this on his dining table.
"Jakub's Legacy" is part of my childhood memories. Reed rye flour seasoned with sizzling hot energized aggagrit, kneaded, baked, then sliced and lightly panfried. Every bite was a resounding crunch... They said the Warlord Jakub left this recipe. But food is food, and food is never wrong. Carly and the kids came running when they heard about chow. All the young ones were giggling when they had this. They described it like eating dried little twigs, then said it felt warm as though the wind itself was casting the Arts. Finally, they licked their lips and said: "Valley IV got sneaky and placed a little game in my foodie bowl."
Savory cookies with bits of cartilaginous material inside it. Look cute but have an extremely dry and gagging taste. This recipe was rumored to be a Landbreaker creation. It would seem that these raiders are actually capable of focusing on the details. A rare occasion indeed.
Cartilage Tack. Back in those days, I would walk away from holiday gatherings with a few pieces in my bag. I shared the tack with Salman's crew. Everyone closed their eyes and reminisced about the taste and the work they did along the way. We remembered the days when we were given Exploration Day shift duties. When that happened, we would sneak out of the party with a handful of Cartilage Tack and grab a few bites whenever hunger crept in... It felt as though the good ol' days had returned.
A comfort food with comforting heat. It is an ancient legacy passed from one planet to another. It tastes of home.
The Superhot Slug Gratin is my favorite. Juicy slug wrapped around tartpepper heat. This combination of flavors literally explodes in one's head... Peggy heard I was serving specialties and sought me out. I gave her some of this. Of course, Bugor was right beside her but he took a step back when he saw the Gratin. Hahaha. Pffft, what a little coward.
